What people seem to be missing about the future hybrid workplace vs the forced work from home environment we are operating in is:

The hybrid workplace means flexibility.

It doesn’t mean work from home versus work from the office

It means more.

More options: (It goes without saying, you must place safety first)

  • You can work from home
  • You can work remotely
  • You can work from a shared space
  • A local open workplace
  • A satellite office
    or
  • From another work space.
  • Or even the beach

It is more, it’s deliberate, planned but flexible

As long as you can work, are safe & have a reliable workspace with great connectivity (- noise), you should decide, book in or book out of the office.

We need to be clearer that there is an opportunity & for you (& your workplace)to evolve.

Change seems bad but it is not.

Yes being in person is important but not essential, Yes connections are generally better IRL, however, it does not mean distributed and remote only companies haven’t made it work for years and many will thrive with the right people + tech solutions.

Remember those days when:

  • You had to WFH to GSD
    or
  • To get my head down or finish an important project,

This is still going to be the case.

Likewise collaboration & away days (off-sites will likely be on-sites) need people around the table, a big screen aka around the campfire.

Be deliberate, intentional over in shaping your workplace, the office is over 100 years old as a concept, the office as an arena is just one alternative.

Look behind first order effects, look at second and third and develop long term success driving thinking.

We win by diverse & fresh thinking!

Now is the time to fix the broken world of work!

Let’s focus on the important elements of the broken & dysfunctional workplace.
